Biography

Dr. Kasidit Nootong (ดร. กษิดิศ หนูทอง) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, along with his M.S.E. (2001) and B.S.E. (2000) degrees from the same institution.

Research Interest

Dr. Nootong’s recent works focus on:

  1. Microalgal Cultivation: Developing various photobioreactor designs and operations to produce high-value biorefinery products as well as live feed for aquaculture hatchery
  2. Microbial Process Optimization: Optimizing microbial processes for agricultural and agro-industrial waste reutilization

He also works on topics such as algal biomass separation, solvent extraction, and antibiotic removal from wastewater using hollow fiber supported liquid membrane.

Research Highlights

  • Production of carotenoids from microalgae in photobioreactors for cosmetic, food, and animal feed
  • Glycerol waste reutilization to produce DHA
  • Wastewater treatment and design of bioreactor systems for nutrient removal
