My student Chalampol Janpum and I in a collaboration with researchers Sugato Hajra, Swati Panda and Hoe Joon Kim from DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology) decided to explore this curiosity and we found that it is possible!

We have just published an article entitled “Triboelectric nanogenerators based on immobilized living microalgae for biomechanical energy harvesting” on Electronic Material Letters (Q2, SJR: 0.58).
Another interdisciplinary research work that contributed to utilisation of living microalgae cells in different ways. Here we combined TENG and living biocomposites technologies together to create a hybrid system. Hopefully, we can extend the lifespan of this device in our future work.
